Background
Historia was an app created in Adobe XD for a 48-hour design competition featuring A+E Networks. Designed for high school and university students, it is a smart tool to efficiently curate research sources for history projects, utilizing History Channel articles and photos in accordance to the design challenge requirements.
Objectives
Historia caters towards seamless access to research for high-school/college students. The app takes its role in providing History channel’s articles and videos, making it easy and less time-consuming finding/organizing resources for projects using a vast library of content. Overall, Historia helps users to find sources easier, organize sources on a project-by-project basis, access and cite content quickly, and answer specific research questions.
Research and Ideation
Immediately after determining our objectives, we began to research for our app’s idea. We uncovered specific points that our app can be effective at towards the solution: !) Focus on a timeline to deliver information in chronological order, 2) Capitalizing on effects illustration/color can have on presenting dynamic information, 3) Using key words to create an algorithmic system that searches for all relevant sources, and 4) Simplifying searches in History’s existing vault .
The app
First, learn the three main features of the app via quick and friendly onboarding. Next, create a new source-collection for existing projects in your dashboard. Then, view sources from the History vault that are auto-found relative to your topic, and cite/cache them. Finally, ask specific questions to our AI system that gives research-specific answers.
