About Cleo
Cleo is an at-home Internet safety learning kit designed for first graders (5 to 7-year-olds), consisting of three different learning activities that aim to make learning fun, engaging and rewardable. These activities allow children to become knowledgeable about the Internet together with their parents or guardians, develop Internet-related tools and skills, and begin to have important conversations about the Internet and online safety at home. So, who is Cleo? Cleo, an adventurous and curious 6-year-old, is from Planet B-10, where they use the Internet to help them learn about and explore outer space. He’s on a mission to fulfill his dream of becoming a space explorer, but he’ll need to learn about the Internet first, and invites kids to learn about the Internet with him.
The Cleo Website
The first learning activity consists of a website, where children begin learning through five informative lessons, and engage in games, videos, and challenges that help Cleo with his missions. The knowledge and tools children develop with the website prepares them for the Cleo flashcards, which is the next activity in the learning kit.
Cleo Flashcards
Children begin to apply what they have learned about the Internet through a deck of 150 flashcards, which have been designed to test their knowledge and critical thinking as they are prompted with questions and problem-solving scenarios related to Lessons 1 to 5. This activity requires parental figures to read out questions and respond to the answers provided by the child, while also encouraging insightful and age-appropriate conversations about the Internet to begin taking place at home.
Cleo Activity Books
The Cleo activity books provide children with a variety of learning exercises that cover the topics they learned about and explored in the two previous activities. These exercises can be done by children on their own, with parents or guardians assisting them when needed, and range from drawing and colouring, matching, writing and personal reflections, and more.
