Recognitions
This design project challenged us to research a cultural institution or non profit organization and develop a new brand identity. While developing Reptilia's new corporate identity I considered the developed mission statement "A home for curious critters" and a fun, caring and educational brand personality.
Logo
The logo for Reptila Zoo and Education centre combines 3 elements. Reptila's fun, caring and educational brand personality, their crocodile mascot, and "curiosity" illustrated by the wandering eyes looking up to the corner. A fluid corporate identity was also considered during this phase of the rebrand, so the monoline style is used to tie the logo in with the set of illustrative elements displayed in Reptilia's other brand applications.
Mapping and Signage
Being a Zoo, mapping and signage is an important recurring component at Reptilia. Since Reptilia promotes their conservation and environmental efforts, I opted for a public map display placed throughout the indoor facility rather than paper brochures. The use of colour signifies different sections of the facility (the zoo experience, event rooms and gift shop/kiosks), arrows provide a suggested flow of traffic and fluid illustrative elements give a visual of where the animals can be found. Internal signage for animal displays, use colour to signify the different zones of the zoo and the illustrative elements depicts the animal on display. The copy is quite playful while keeping information in a casual tone to cater to children.
Marketing and Product Applications
Reptilia has the opportunity for many brand applications. Pictured above are zoo admission wristbands, event lanyards for camps and school excursions, poster advertisements and product packaging for various reptile diets.
