Hello Friend is the app that is designed *unofficially* for your safety. It is a platform for domestic abuse victims to access resources and collect evidence while staying safe and anonymous. Hello Friend provides a safe space for people in need through connecting users with long term support systems as well as providing quick access to emergency resources. It uses a simple and straightforward layout to help the user navigate, document information, and exit quickly. It features a dashboard page, resources page, and diary page. The dashboard features quizzes and quick helpful links, the resources page has information on physical resources as well as access to online audio or text chats with support lines, and the diary is set up for uploading files and writing password protected notes.
A Focus On Safety
Hello Friend is the #1 app to help you get out. The app is password protected and anonymous, allowing you to exit the app, log out, and stop it from running in the background with the press of a button. It is also displayed as a "news app" in order to keep itself hidden until you are logged in.
Finding Safe Spaces
Using your current location or a chosen address, you can see the nearest available resources to contact or learn more about, whether it is finding a nearby clinic or even a shelter to stay at. This app could be potentially be partnered with the government of ontario or various municipalities as a way of distributing information about programs and resources that are available in the area.
Keeping A Diary
The diary will be a space where the user can access a space that is only visible to them. Using the diary, you can share your thoughts and feelings and attach files that will be kept on the app but removed off your phone for your safety. You can upload photos, videos, or audio files to keep as evidence as well.
